MY PHOTOGRAPHY
My name is Meshell and I took the bubble girl photograph, as
well as a few others I hope you enjoy.
I started taking pictures when I
was 18 years old, on a two week backpack trip in the High Sierra Mountains of
California. We hiked 52 miles on the John Muir trail from Mammoth and Devils
Postpile to Yosemite National Park. My Dad, who is also an artist and wonderful
photographer, gave me my first camera to take with me on the trip. It was a 110
pocket instamatic. I was so inspired by the mountain scenery (especially since I
was coming from Rhode Island where the highest point is 815 feet above sea
level) I took rolls and rolls of pictures. The landscape vistas were amazing!
Around every bend was another breathtaking view! As we hiked along through the
wilderness, I began scaling up cliffs to get the best views, teetering on fallen
logs across raging rivers, performing death defying feats of photographic
heroism! Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, the camera got a crack in it
and none of the pictures came out - but I can still remember those majestic
waterfalls and jagged spires reaching up to the sky like it was yesterday! I
guess that's what started me on the picture taking trail, and I've been
following that path ever since!
So, what happened next?
Continuing
to search for way to satisfy my wonderlust, I started working for the airlines,
traveling all over to beautiful locations - taking my camera with me where ever
I went. I lived in many states during those travelling years and visited many
countries. I began showing my work after one of my photographs was chosen to
tour with the Lyndhurst National Trust Foundation and was sold at a private
auction... for real money! I had several photographic exhibits in NY before
leaving the airlines in June of 1999. Later that year I relocated to the
Berkshires of western Massachusetts with thoughts of picturesque country
villiages with rolling hills and beautiful Fall foliage. For almost 10 years I worked in the
Healing Arts department at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, MA.
Below is my Healing Arts Bio if you're interested in what else I
do.
Thank you for visiting my website, and have a FABULOUS
day!
